I final have photoshop to play with. When I was cutting purple cabbage tonight I loved the lines. I took my normal photo, but then in photoshop I just rendered on cotton paper which is what I used to print my B&W prints on. I really liked how it turned out. Wow, who knew cabbage could look so beautiful - I'm impressed!
Black and white just sings in this shot. I use German Etching paper for my more "fine art" prints. It is like a heavier rag paper with a little more tooth. I have also been using Epson's velvet fine art paper, which is very similar. I'd love to see some of your prints some day.
I really like this photo -- if you didn't know it was cabbage, you would automatically think it was some sort of modern art experiment. Nice job!

OH MY.....that cabbage has taken on a whole nuther look with the B&W. VERY COOL! I could see that one framed and hung in the kitchen.

What version of photshop did you get? I would be glad to help you get familiar with it if you need any help. Teaching Photoshop (and digital photography) has been a bit of a job on the side for me....I am hoping to do more of this in the future.
Dirk installed it, I am not positive what version...when I pull it up it says Adobe Photoshop 8 Central European Version....but I really don't know what any of that means. I have never used any version of Photoshop at all.
Cool shot! Very artistic. But the deep purple of red cabbage, I miss the color. I seem to be in the minority, though.

I have actually thought how beautiful the lines are in red cabbage after it's cut! This is great. And as others have said the black and white gives a whole 'nuther dimension to cabbage!

I have a very similar (though in color!) shot on my leftovers, taken when preparing my New Year's purple cabbage. It is funny to think of us all with our cameras, shooting the same things in different ways...this one is great!
