By the time I get a chance to clean the kitchen it is usually midnight, the dishwasher has been filled, but not run and this is what is leftover to handwash before morning! So, here is my nod to the modern still life.
Oh, I feel for you; when my wife and I were first married, we didn't have a dishwasher. I did enough dishes during those first few years to last me a lifetime!
I don't have a dishwasher, so this does look familiar, but I'm mad you're the one who has to do this ~ and at midnight, nonetheless. You deserve to be relaxing by that hour!
Colleen, thanks for the support. A funny thing happened though. After I took the picture and jumped online to post it, I was planning on going back and cleaning up....well I didn't I played on the computer until after 1 am. When I remembered the kitchen I decided to leave it til morning.
One of my amazing students (she gets here at like 5:30am, before I even get up) cleaned the whole kitchen while I was walking the dogs first thing this morning. So, I was out walking and taking pictures expecting to have to do dishes while teaching math and now not only do I not have math students, I also have a clean kitchen! Life is GOOD!

Ok, now I know where to picture you at midnight! I can relate. This is a slice of life photo.

You are so right about this being a modern still life... perfect. I left my own modern still life undone tonight. There's always tomorrow...
