January 31

This one proves I actually left the house today!

This one is to show I am working on this week's DPS assignment 'eyes', but I am not there yet!
Coco is on serious pain meds now. He is happier, but loopy!

Working on my photoshop skills for a game on DPS
Storm that knocked out power!
Another game on DPS

I just realized that I haven't left the house, really haven't left two rooms of my house since I came home from the dance exhibition on Sunday night!

January 27

I have so much more to learn about action shooting. These were shot at ISO 3200 (hence all the 'noise'), most were 70mm, and I tried to keep the F/stop between 5.6 and 8. I am thinking I need to open it up to 4.5 and bring the ISO down to 1600 or even 800. Hopefully, the stage lighting will be better than gym lighting (I haven't said lately how much I HATE gym lighting :) )

January 26

It is a good thing this is my blog and I make the rules! I don't want to post one picture today, I feel like putting up a few. I think I have finally settled on this one for my assignment entry this week. I Took it a few days ago, but I processed it today.
I like this one, but don't think it is minimal enough.
These are the two I actually took today, but again I don't think this first one is minimal enough.
This one is minimal, but so many people have done amazing candle shots that I don't think mine would add anything to the thread.

January 25

I am not super happy with this shot, but it is part of the series that I was taking for the current assignment at DPS (minimalism). I think I need to keep working.

January 23, 24

On Wednesday we got back to studying. It was a strangely 'normal' day.
Today, we did a lot of cooking. For recipes and more food pictures check out Musings.

January 20, 21, 22......(they all ran together anyway)

This shot is a good cross section of the almost 200 people who attended my mom's memorial service.
This is Kayleigh and Erwin discovering they were wearing matching hats.....Kayleigh had stolen the hat fom her dad ;)
This is the one cake I kept for the family. I spent the day baking cookies, cakes, and cupcakes for the nurses at Hospice and the Hospital. This is the first time I tried a checkerboard cake. It was spice and coconut with creamcheese and Amaretta icing.
Somethings don't suffer from language barriers.
Back to school, a game and a 'normal' life.

January 19

I have been reading all about eyes on DPS and so I took quite a few macro shots of the most beautiful eyes in my world.

January 18

I took this one of my rosary while waiting around in the car. The more I look at it the more I like it.

Dirk took these two on the way home. He was fascinated with the effect and just kept clicking away.

January 17

I was playing with Depth of Field for the DPS assignment while walking the dogs this morning. I am going to have to try again when I am not distracted by the blind deaf CoCo and the leash yanking Angel. It was nice to wake up to snow, even if it was just here for an hour or so.

I didn't take it, but ...

It was taken and sent to me on the right day! I am still up to my nose in old pictures. This is the first official fitting of 'the dress'. Kayleigh's will actually be a touch longer and ivory in color. The person taking the picture needs a few pointers :)

edit: Not sure why this went to draft instead of post, hopefully it posts today.

Starting a scrapbook.....

My sister and I are going through all the old photos to find the very few that are there of my mom. Some we are just cutting up, some we are scanning and cutting up, and some I am taking photos of and trying to retouch a little. I don't want them to be perfect, because I like the aged look, but it is nice to fix some of the water damage.

This is Mom's senior picture. It is one that was very damaged. I think it is a little less noticable now.

She was loved and she will be missed

I have an amazing family. Mom's soul has passed on to another realm of being, but her spirit and love will remain with us, guiding us for a long, long time to come. She is out of pain and at peace. I am at peace with that.

This week

Ginger, at the hospice center taking care of Mom.
The view since Thursday....
The flowers were pretty, but...
The stems were fascinating.
The recliner we take turns sleeping in.
Wonderful supportive family and friends that make suprise smiles possible.

January 7

I have been going for a walk every day. One of the main excuses for walking is to take pictures. I have been trying to go at different times of day to get different lights and reflection. I loved this shot from today. It seems like a great metaphor for the way I have been feeling lately.

I will probably post more shots on leftovers, later. But of all 200 plus pictures taken this one jumped out at me. This is Mom with her honoary grandchildren.

Maybe this is why I didn't spot any birds on my walk today.
